Proverbs tell us life and death is in the power of the tongue.
Let’s think about that a minute and look at the example that Jesus begun.
It started when Jesus was arrested.
Taken before the high counsel and tested.
Just before Peter denied and found false witnesses to lie.
Then through all the haze two men came forward and said they heard him say that he would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days.
When Jesus was asked what he had to say.
He remained silent as the crowd mocked and gazed.
The next example has Jesus standing before Pilate.
But as the accusations came, Jesus remained silent.
His life now sitting in Pilates hands.
He starts listening to the crowd’s demands.
So Pilate stood and denied, then ordered Christ to be whipped and crucified.
Taunted, mocked, and beaten
His body nearly dead and broken.
All he would have had to say is stop, then ten thousand angles would have came floatin.
Jesus was dyin, and he still remained silent.
If Jesus would have lost control of his tongue, would he have still hung?
Would his father’s will have been done?
We can use this example today in just the same way.
People are going to laugh and mock us.
But we cannot give up and let that stop us.
If we lose control of our tongue we start to sound witless.
Say the wrong thing and we could blow our witness.
Power of the tongue was said with purpose.
Don’t throw it out and act like it is worthless.
What would this world be like if Jesus said forget it, got mad, and didn’t remain silent?
It would have saved his life, but it would not have been God’s will.
So use this example and watch what you say.
Cause weather you know it of not people watch you day by day.
Strive to set the example daily, don’t be ashamed or hide it.
But realize sometimes the best witness we can be is to show it in our actions and just remain silent.
